Are they connected?
So I've got the PMDD and I was recently somewhat/kind of diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I say somewhat/kind of because it was my first appointment with a new rheumatologist and I was unable to see him again because our insurance was dropped. He told me that I have parts of all 3 of the main rheumatic disorders: the widespread pain and arthritis, HLA-B27 positive/iritis, and malar rash. So there is a chance that it's something else.
I've been reading things about the PMDD, progesterone intolerance, autoimmune disorders, fibro, ankylosing spondylitis (this runs in my family and is what I believe I really have), PCOS, multiple LH surges, LUFS, IBS, gluten intolerance, skin and weight problems that mimic a thyroid problem, etc. etc. and I wonder if they are all connected or maybe I don't have a bunch of disorders but actually one basic thing that is going on that has caused all of this other stuff to go crazy. ?
It just seems weird to me that I've got so much going on. And many of them are the weird disorders that not many know about or understand, which is making it super difficult to get a diagnosis or to get decent help. It would be nice to have one thing.. one cause with one simple solution. Like a brain tumor. I know it sounds crazy and who in their right mind would want a brain tumor, but at least then I'd know why and maybe it could be fixed. I already had my pituitary scanned when I couldn't figure out why none of the antidepressants were helping my MDD (didn't know it was PMDD at the time) and it was normal. I'm wondering if it has to do with my adrenals. I'd like to get them scanned just to ease my mind.
Sigh. Just thinking a lot tonight!

Re: Are they connected?
I just had to smile at the one thing wish - you know I've been crying out wishing I had 'only' bipolar
But yes, I'm sort of thinking that maybe there's something that is common in all PMDDers, just a single cause and then everyone develops different symptoms, even psychological because of different traumas and experiences that we react through both with the PMDD and our personal ways of responding, and through what bipolar, fibro or brain tumor does...
Know what I'm saying

Re: Are they connected?
Yes! Exactly! We have our own personal brands of PMDD because of the fun things our lives have weaved into it. I wonder if it's in our genes. They need to do gene mapping on all of us
damnit.

That's a good way of putting it, 'brands'
